We were out at the 25th annual Trail Days festival in Damascus, VA this weekend. There is a very good reason that Damascus is known as the friendliest town on the Appalachian Trail – the town pulls out all of the stops for this festival and welcomes through-hikers with open arms year round. I was in Damascus at Mojoes Trailside Coffee two months ago and the entire town (there are only 1,066 full time residents) was talking about the first through-hiker who just walked into town that morning.

Anyway, here is a short photo collection of our time in Damascus this weekend!

Last weekend we went out to the Nantahala Gorge for NOC’s first annual AT Bridge Founders Day Festival. The Appalachian Trail runs right through the middle of their campus and they put on a great event for the hikers and anyone else who cared to show up. There were slideshows from Andrew Skurka and Jennifer Pharr Davis as well as clinics on stoves, packing light, footwear, packs, and any other gear you can imagine.

Here’s a little video we did…
